Hello, I am testing the latest build of DEmul v0.7 alpha 090715 and this build has fixed a few sound issues found in the earlier release, however, I noticed this new sound volume bug while playing Shenmue II, you notice that the bgm volume is too low sometimes when you open the notebook, while the volume is normal at other times. you can hear it in the video below :
I also noticed that enabling v-sync in graphics configuration ( with both old and NG video plugins ) sometimes causes sound distortion as well, this doesn't happen with v-sync turned off
Please let me know if you need any more info to help you get this bug fixed in the next release. Many thanks.
Update: this bug has been fixed in build 110715 thanks to _MetalliC_

Thank you for your reply. On the real Dreamcast hardware, sound volume is normal and not muted when you open the notebook in Shenmue II. While with the emulator, it plays normal at times and muted at others as shown in the video, I think it's an emulation bug.
On the v-sync issue, I am testing the emulator on an Intel i7 4770K CPU/32GB DDR3 RAM and GTX-770 with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM GPU I think this system is powerful enough to play with v-sync without video stuttering, the only problem I am having with v-sync is the sound distortion and it happens randomly from time to time, I will try to capture some footage to show it.
I can confirm the V-Sync issue. It happened to me while playing F355 Challenge (Dreamcast version, other games have problems too), it randomly stutters on the circuit selection screen. If I switch to windowed and back to fullscreen the stuttering disappears... so I don't think it's related to an underperforming computer. It didn't happen with version 0.582 either.
Congratulations for making this great emulator

Made a little more testing with the latest version and now it's better but it still happened a couple of times. Go windowed and back to fullscreen and all works ok.

I can confirm this issue too, and it appears to happen more frequently with the later wip builds
current implemetation of Dreamcast AICA digital controlled filter is very preliminary and experimental, so, if you have troubles with sound its the first thing I'll recommend to tweak or disable. - set "Alternative filter" - if this doesnt helps "Disable Filter" - and only if this doesnt help disable DSP.
masterchan777 I'm not sure, but this can be related to GPU power management, so for some reason videodriver thinking GPU is have very low load and switch it to too low clock rate. dont know how this can be "fixed" if its true
Thank you _MetalliC_ for the hint, Indeed I noticed that video drivers don't recognise DEmul as a 3D application for some reason, and therefore gpu drivers keep the GPU running in the lower 2D clocks mode (power saving mode). The good news is that it can be easily fixed by making a new 3D profile for DEmul.exe through Nvidia Control Panel (for GeForce cards) and manually force the drivers to run DEmul in 3D Mode which switches off power saving mode as long as the emulator is running. But the bad news is, this doesn't completely fix the random audio stuttering issue especially when v-sync is enabled. What I noticed is that audio stuttering is completely random and it's hard (at least for me) to replicate at a certain point during gameplay, and it is much more frequent in the later WIP builds in comparison with the earlier beta. Another thing I noticed is that this issue happens way more frequently in Shenmue 2 than Shenmue 1. It's a really annoying bug and it could be indeed hard to fix, my guess is it could be an audio/video sync issue of some sort...
Sorry, forgot to add file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/40qbh50y93fwt ... 0.bin?dl=0 Shenmue I PAL,Second Disc. just load second save and go to rightmost room(Fuku-san's room) and it will trigger cutscene. And, no, disabling filter doesn't help. Actually, it doesn't really bothering me much, and it happened only two times so far.. I just felt like I should report this bug anyway everything else work just great!

I can also confirm this issue, the sound indeed got muted for a very short moment during the cutscene.
